Intramuros

San Agustin Church - the only solid building after the revolution. it was buit during the Spanish era. Spaniards brought Christianity and Catholicism to Filipinos. Their colonization lasted for more than 300 years. from which the Philippines adapted much of european culture. Many Filipinos were born with Spanish blood. Our language is rich in Spanish words.

San Agustin church is found inside the walled city of Intramuros. "within the walls" as it means. according to history it was built in 1571. the walls were still standing stiff withstanding many natural calamities. canons were still on teir locations.

The Intramuros was destroyed in WWII when American and Japanese force fought against each other. Most of the buildings erected by the Spaniards including the government building were all destroyed. some were burned down. Many suffered and died.

Kalesa - is only used inside Intramuros or the "old Manila" as it is called. it is preserved as a part of tourist attraction and keeping the old-time practices.

Many of the buildings were renovated according to their original frames and architechture.

Shamil wanted to have a picture with a guard. we met some along the walls but didn't agree. here we finally caught one (: He was quite pleasant to us.

streets were named after the residents and or whatever kind of building it was serving the Spaniards before.

the wall is a not too narrow path where people can pass to and fro. it is probably where the guards of the walled city were standing to watch enemy approaching.

inside the walled city now are some of the private universities in the Philippines. inside and around the walled city are different other colleges, private and government.
