Chinese New Year

Chinese new Year falls on Valentine's Day this year. it's going to be a double celebration. the whole nation is gonna be RED. red envelopes (hong bao), lanterns and hearts will be all in the air. it is still a month to go but i can see people getting ready for it. decors are everywhere. new year songs are played in shops and restaurants. at least it's a new song this year lol.

this is going to be my 7th Chinese new year and i'm not very excited about it. it's probably the same way they feel towards Christmas. but it'd be fun seeing lots of people on their newest clothes and shoes walking with much excitement on their faces. it's the most important festival for them. it's a time when families get together in all circumstances. students and migrant workers go back to their hometowns to spend the new year. Spring Festival as they call it. it's not the best time to travel so i'll stay home and wait till it's over. it usually lasts for a week. a week of eating, drinking, visiting relatives and friends, fireworks. the main streets will be empty for they are all home with families. not even public transport. there will be taxis from time to time but you gotta pay double for the reason that they are working on a holiday. :) shops will be closed as well so i gotta stack food before it comes. it's funny from aside 'cause it's like there'll be a war that i have to stack food before the festival comes lol.
