Kazan Kremlin (The Fortress of Kazan)

(statue): Musa Dzhalil - a Tatar poet who was executed by German naziis in Moabit prison in Germany.

Suiumbeke Tower - there is a legend that tells about how this tower was built in 7 days.

"Ivan The Terrible" who was a czar wanted to marry a Tatar princess named Suiumbeke.

 Reluctant of "Ivan The Terrible's" proposal, she challenged him to build a tower within 7 days.

 "Ivan The Terrible" ordered men to build a tower of  7 layers wherein each layer was built in one day.

Suiumbeke, thinking that her wish was impossible saw the progress of the constuction

and due to fear of ending up with marriage with "Ivan The Terrible", she jumped and 

has fallen dead from this tower.

(the legend was created to make the story more romantic but in fact, the characters existed in real life . "Ivan The Terrible" took Suiumbeke by force, brought to Moscow, married and there she spent all her life until she died.)
