Hail September!
I mean that kinda hail from a hailstorm.
We're supposed to be having "Indian summer" this week. The recast weather forecast promised +30dC. It was hot in the morning as promised. I went out wearing just summer flats jeans & shirt.
Later some areas were flooded including one of the streets I had to walk through. I tried hard to avoid submerging my feet but it all ended up under water anyway.
I've heard from the news about damages in some 30 building and 9 people injured. Part of a roof one building fell out and landed into a bust stop where some people were taking shelter during the storm. They all were brought to the hospital.

Today's a good weather. Sunny, calm only +20dC...like nothing bad happened yesterday. During "Indian summer", most people go to dacha to make the most of the last wave of heat.
I like that there is "Indian summer" but at the same time, it's kinda sad that I have to bade goodbye to summer. I like (early) fall too but what makes it sad saying goodbye to summer is the fact that for the next 6-8 months, we won't feel this familiar, comforting warmth again. I like winter too. I just wish it was a bit shorter?...maybe.
Well, anyway, this is the course of nature...so be it. How has your weather been lately? Has "Indian summer" been in your place yet?
Help, not my idea of an Indian summer. Those hailstones and the damage they caused were incredible. What an amazing post. Yes, I agree that winter is too long. :)
ReplyDeleteWow that is some bad storm. I don't think it is common there at this time of year, is it? Indian summer is always beautiful here too. Who knows what this year brings with the El Nino effect. It has been very very hot here all summer. Then we had a wind and rain storm last weekend where I lost power but not as long as some people. Now it is raining again for the night or day then the forecast is for gradually warmer days for the rest of the week so I hope we have a good Indian summer.
ReplyDeleteMy friend lives in Toronto where Monday they had the hottest day of the summer but he said just across the border they received a large dump of snow. I could barely believe it.

Hail that late in the season is rather unusual. I'm glad that you're okay and only got your feet wet and a good scare.
ReplyDeleteI have shoes just like yours - in silver. I hope yours weren't ruined! The changeable weather happens here in CO, too - a nice day and then bam - a hail storm or snow. However, we've been having fabulous weather lately so I'm giving thanks. I'm sitting on my deck now, enjoying the golden light, but wearing a heavy fleece because the wind is cool.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is some huge hail. We had a lot of rain and temperatures dropping a bit here this weekend, too, but it seems back to summer heat now, even if the sky is a bit gloomy. I love Indian Summer -- for us it tends to be a very warm week in October. But I hope it is a series of several weeks~!

ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see the damages you have shown us. Abnormal weather is happening in the world and in Japan too. There were many people got dehydration, carrying to hospitals by ambulances and died this summer.The extremely hot summer suddenly ended.These days, many houses were collapsed under landslide due to torrential rains.Now I am waiting a typhoon is passing away on my area, and soon blue sky appears!
